Writing Style Guides – archived blog posts – My Blog Editor

Your blog posts need style.

What I mean is every piece of content on your blog (and website) needs to follow a writing style guide. This is what makes newspapers, magazines and Fortune 500 corporate communications pieces professional, as in clear, correct and consistent.

Style guides include specific rules for grammar, spelling, punctuation, word usage and more. And they make copy accurate, consistent and polished.

You don’t have to be a professional communicator to use a style guide. Just pick one (Most used guides in business writing: the Associated Press Stylebook and Chicago Manual of Style). Buy an online subscription ($28-$30 ish), and then follow the rules in your guide.

The one I use and write about on this blog is the Associated Press Stylebook. It’s the gold-standard writing style guide followed by journalists and many Fortune 500 corporations and smaller businesses.

Below are some blog posts that show you how writing style guides can make your writing clear, concise, credible and consistent.
